For over 25 years, Robert and Cortney Novogratz have formed a design powerhouse. Recognised for their colourful, eclectic style that places importance on personal expression and liveability, the Novogratz's impressive portfolio of projects spans the globe.

Robert and Cortney’s shared passion for art, design and architecture have informed their holistic approach for interiors. Fully immersed in every detail of the project, Robert and Cortney can often be found on-site, hard hats on, transforming their innovative visions into spectacular, but most importantly, liveable spaces. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that the couple recently embarked upon their most complex project yet, their 7,200 square-foot Waverly Place Townhouse in the heart of Manhattan.

Join The Rug Company as we are welcomed into the design duo’s magnificent 1826, five-story, Art Nouveau home and explore more about the transformation of this colossal space into a hub for friends, family and celebration.

"The home on Waverly Place is probably the most magnificent home we've ever done. We've passed it for over 30 years, never knowing it would come up for sale. What makes this place so special is it was built in 1826, but it's only had two owners before we showed up and so it was in what we'd like to say the best condition for us as The Novogratz. We tackled it because no one else would."

"No matter what size room it is, it needs a rug. It could be the living room, it needs a rug. It could be your bedroom, it needs a rug. I mean, it's kind of the reason that you step in and take your shoes off and feel at home."

"When we buy a particular piece of property or build one from scratch, it's a story. It's a beginning, middle and end, it's like a great novel, it gets bumpy, it gets interesting, it's an adventure, but we hopefully lean on each other and get through it. At the end we celebrate, which is most important."
